What is Operation Friendship?

Operation Friendship is a voluntary, international association for the organization of youth exchange programs. It was founded in 1964 by Rev. Wallace A. Shaw in Glenrothes (Scotland) and to this day enables young people to get to know other countries and cultures as well as to make friends all over the world. Through its exchange programs, the organization would like to contribute to strengthen the open-mindedness of the young participants. In addition, an increased social awareness and a way of thinking should be promoted, which is free of stereotypes.

Since 1973 there has beenan active national group of Operation Friendship in Bavaria, whichhas organized exchange programs with young people from, amongst others, the US, from the Crimea, from Hungary or Northern Ireland. In November 2013 Operation Friendship Bayern e.V. was founded and is now continuing the work of the former working group of the Kreisjugendring
